Find direct answers about formats, local processing, file limits, image quality, ZIP downloads, animated WEBP files, and mobile use.
Supported Formats
What input format does the converter accept?
The converter accepts WEBP files. It validates the selected file rather than relying only on its filename.
What output format does it create?
It creates static PNG files. A supported browser can also package the separate frames of an animated WEBP as numbered PNG files in a ZIP.
Can I convert PNG to WEBP?
No. The current tool converts WEBP input to PNG output only.
Using the Converter
How do I convert a WEBP file?
Open the converter, choose, drop, or paste one or more WEBP files, review optional resize and output-name settings, select Convert to PNG, then download the completed results.
Can I paste a WEBP from the clipboard?
Yes, when the browser provides clipboard image access. Activate Paste WEBP from clipboard after copying the image. The converter rejects clipboard images that are not actually WEBP.
Do I need an account?
No. Registration, login, and software installation are not required.
Does it work on mobile devices?
The interface is responsive and works in modern mobile browsers. Large images and batches may take longer on devices with limited memory.
Files, Limits, and Downloads
How many files can I convert at once?
You can add up to 20 WEBP files to one batch.
What is the maximum file size?
Each source file can be up to 50 MB. Decoded pixel and dimension safeguards also apply.
What should I do with more than 20 files?
Split the collection into separate batches of 20 files or fewer.
Can I download several converted files together?
Yes. Download each PNG separately or create one ZIP archive containing the completed batch.
Local Processing and Privacy
Are my image files uploaded?
No. The converter processes the selected WEBP files locally in your browser and does not intentionally send those image files or generated PNG output to our servers.
Does “local processing” mean the website makes no network requests?
No. Local processing describes the image conversion path. Your browser still connects to the website to load pages and may connect to analytics or advertising services. Read Security and Local Image Processing for details.
Does the site store my converted images?
The converter does not upload or store them on our servers. A PNG or ZIP you download is stored wherever you choose on your own device.
Quality, Transparency, and Metadata
Does PNG improve image quality?
No. PNG stores the decoded result with lossless compression, but it cannot restore detail removed when a lossy WEBP was created.
Is transparency preserved?
Supported alpha transparency in the decoded WEBP is retained in the PNG output.
Are dimensions preserved?
Original dimensions are the default. You can instead resize by percentage or set width and height values. Unsafe requested dimensions are rejected before conversion.
Can I preview and rename the PNG?
Yes. Each queued file displays its source details and a local preview. After conversion, the row updates with the PNG preview, output dimensions, and actual encoded size. You can set a safe output base name; .png is added automatically.
Is metadata preserved?
Do not rely on metadata preservation. Browser conversion can remove EXIF, location, camera, and color-profile information.
Is a watermark added?
No watermark is added by the converter.
Animated WEBP Files
Does an animated WEBP remain animated?
No. The default exports the first frame as one static PNG. The converter does not create APNG output.
Can I export every animation frame?
Yes, when the browser supports full WEBP frame decoding. Choose All frames (ZIP) to create numbered PNG files and a timing manifest. If the browser does not support that path, the option stays disabled and first-frame export remains available. Frame and memory safeguards apply.
Troubleshooting
Why was my file rejected?
It may not be a valid WEBP, may exceed an active limit, may be damaged, or may use image data the browser cannot decode.
Why is the PNG larger than the WEBP?
WEBP often uses more space-efficient compression for web delivery. PNG uses a different lossless format, so a larger output is normal.
What details should I include in a support message?
Include the browser and version, device type, file size, image dimensions if known, batch count, and the exact message shown. Do not email a sensitive source image unless you deliberately choose to share it.
