Features

WEBP to PNG Tools provides a focused browser workflow for turning WEBP images into PNG files. Its features are built around clear limits, local image processing, batch conversion, and straightforward downloads.

One Clear Conversion Direction

The tool accepts WEBP input and creates PNG output. It does not switch direction automatically and does not treat PNG files as valid input. This keeps the page aligned with the task visitors came to complete.

Local Browser Processing

Selected image files are decoded and converted inside your browser. The converter does not intentionally upload the selected WEBP files or generated PNG output to our servers.

Website requests, analytics, and advertising are separate from the image conversion path. Read How Local WEBP Conversion Works and our Security page for the full distinction.

Convert Up to 20 Files per Batch

Choose one WEBP file or build a batch of up to 20 files. The converter processes the queue sequentially to reduce simultaneous browser memory use, then makes every completed PNG available for download.

Up to 50 MB per File

Each source file can be up to 50 MB. The converter also applies image-dimension and pixel safeguards before creating the PNG canvas. A file that exceeds an active limit is rejected with a clear message rather than added silently.

Select, Drop, or Paste a WEBP

Add WEBP files with the file picker or drag and drop. In browsers that permit clipboard image access, choose Paste WEBP from clipboard after copying a WEBP image. Clipboard permission is requested only after you activate that option, and non-WEBP clipboard images are rejected.

Preview Before and After Conversion

Each queued file displays a local preview with its real source dimensions and bytes. Before conversion, the row shows the requested output dimensions; after conversion, it updates to the PNG preview and actual encoded size. Preview images use temporary local browser URLs rather than image uploads.

Resize PNG Output

Keep original dimensions by default, scale every file by percentage, or enter width and height values. Aspect-ratio controls help avoid unintended stretching, and the same decoded-pixel safeguards are applied before the output canvas is allocated.

Rename Individual Outputs

Set a different output base name for each queued file. The converter validates the name, adds .png automatically, and uses the saved name for individual and ZIP downloads.

Individual PNG and ZIP Downloads

Download a converted PNG as soon as it is ready. For a multi-file batch, choose Download all as ZIP to collect the completed files in a single archive. The ZIP library is loaded only when that option is requested.

Resolution and Transparency

The PNG output keeps the decoded image dimensions unless Resize output is enabled, and it retains supported alpha transparency. No watermark is added by the converter.

Changing formats does not enhance the source image. A lossy WEBP that already lacks detail will not regain that detail when stored as PNG, and browser re-encoding may remove metadata or color-profile information.

Animated WEBP Handling

The default animated-WEBP behavior exports the first frame as one static PNG. When the browser exposes compatible full-frame decoding, All frames (ZIP) exports numbered PNG frames with a timing manifest. Frame count, total decoded pixels, and aggregate output size are limited to protect browser memory. APNG output is not claimed or generated.

No Account or Installation

The converter works without an account, password, extension, or desktop installation. Open the page in a modern browser, choose files, convert, and download the results.

Mobile and Desktop Support

The responsive interface is designed for modern desktop and mobile browsers. Processing time depends on the device, browser, file dimensions, and batch size. Large batches may take longer on devices with limited memory.

What the Current Tool Does Not Do

  • It does not convert PNG files back to WEBP.
  • It does not create an animated PNG; all-frame output is a ZIP of separate PNG frames.
  • It does not import images from cloud-storage accounts or remote URLs.
  • It does not accept more than 20 files in one queue.
  • It does not accept a source file larger than 50 MB.
  • It does not restore quality or metadata missing from the original image.
