Security

This page explains the security boundary of the WEBP to PNG Tools converter. It distinguishes local image processing from ordinary website, analytics, advertising, and email traffic.

webp-to-png.tools is independently owned and operated by Ahmed Ali.

How Local Conversion Works

The current converter processes selected images inside your browser. It uses browser image capabilities to decode the WEBP source and create the PNG result.

The converter does not intentionally send the selected image file or its converted output to our servers. The output is provided as a browser download that you choose to save.

What “No Image Upload” Means

“No image upload” describes the conversion path. It does not mean the entire website operates offline or that no network requests occur.

Your browser contacts the Site to load pages, scripts, styles, and other resources. Website requests may contain normal technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested URL, referrer, and timestamp.

The Site currently uses Cloudflare DNS, reverse-proxy delivery, and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics traffic is separate from the local image conversion path. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may receive website-visit or interaction data only if they are configured and enabled. The converter is not intended to send selected image files to these services.

See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details.

File Validation and Resource Limits

The converter checks input direction, file signature, batch count, source size, and decoded image dimensions. These controls reduce accidental misuse and browser memory pressure, but they cannot guarantee that every malformed or unusually compressed image will be harmless to every browser.

Files are converted sequentially, and temporary browser object references are released when outputs are replaced, items are removed, the queue is cleared, or the page is left.

Browser Memory and Downloads

While the converter is in use, the browser may hold the selected image and converted result in memory to display status and create a download.

Clearing the converter, refreshing the page, or closing the tab ends the page’s access to that session data. The browser and operating system control the exact timing of memory cleanup.

A PNG or ZIP that you download is stored where you choose on your device and is then your responsibility to protect or remove.

HTTPS and Website Connections

Use the HTTPS version of webp-to-png.tools shown in your browser. HTTPS protects website traffic while it travels between your browser and the Site. It does not protect against every risk, including a compromised device, malicious extension, unsafe software, deceptive domain, or information voluntarily sent to a third party.

No website can promise perfect security.

Third-Party Services

Cloudflare Web Analytics currently operates separately from the image conversion process and, according to Cloudflare, does not use cookies for its analytics metrics. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may use cookies, local storage, identifiers, and network requests only if those services are configured and enabled, according to their settings and available choices.

Blocking optional third-party technologies may change analytics or advertising behavior. The core conversion process does not require the selected image file to be transmitted to those providers.

Practical Steps for Users

  • Use a current browser and operating system.
  • Install extensions only from sources you trust.
  • Verify that the address bar shows https://webp-to-png.tools/.
  • Avoid converting sensitive material on a device you do not control.
  • Keep a safe original copy of every image.
  • Review downloaded files before sharing them.
  • Clear the queue or close the tab when finished.

Security Limitations

Local processing reduces server-side exposure of image files, but it cannot eliminate risks caused by browser vulnerabilities, extensions, device malware, third-party services, unsafe networks, or user actions.

Conversion may fail for damaged, unsupported, or unusually large images. Do not rely on the Site as your only copy of a file or as a substitute for a dedicated security product.

Report a Security Concern

Send a report to Ahmed Ali, the Site owner and operator, at [email protected] or use the Contact page, with the subject Security Report. Include the affected URL, browser, steps to reproduce, and observed result. Do not email passwords, credentials, personal data, confidential files, or sensitive images unless a safer method has first been agreed.
